TREASURE ISLAND | MADEIRA BEACH – Early in March, the Chairman of the Board of the Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce, Joe Dise (Dise Wealth Management), and his wife, Erin, attended Governor Rick Scott’s Leadership Dinner at the Governor’s mansion in Tallahassee.
“The evening was an intimate gathering,” said Dise in describing the March 7 dinner. “There were fewer than fifty guests, representing such diverse groups as the Florida National Guard, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, our Chamber, and a program in Miami that assists Cuban nationals in assimilating with U.S. culture.”
During the dinner, Governor Scott thanked the leaders he had gathered for the dinner, and listened to each guest’s description of his or her agency’s mission and concerns.
“The evening offered all of us a chance to get to know each other and learn what important work and issues are being addressed around the state,” continued Dise. “Governor Scott also reinforced his commitment to helping each of us succeed in our agencies’ goals.”
Dise noted that when the Governor visited his table, Dise talked to him about the Chamber’s efforts to help business owners in Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, and the surrounding areas. He also expressed the Chamber’s gratitude for the Governor’s support of Visit Florida and Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater, the dollars spent out of state to bring new tourists to the area, and monies that supplement our police departments and Gulf Boulevard, the state-maintained roadway that connects our Gulf coast communities.
“I’ve always felt that we’ve had an open line of communication with the Governor’s office,” said Dise. “Many people do not realize that the Governor makes it a point to visit communities around Florida on a regular basis, and he’s been very responsive to our interests.”
