TREASURE ISLAND.   The Treasure Islettes kicked off the holiday season on Saturday, December 1, with CANDYLAND —Sweetest Holly Fest Ever.  The event drew a sell-out crowd of more than 160 people to the Treasure island Community Center to enjoy a festive bazaar and luncheon.

Treasure Islettes President Toni Hawkins, BJ Flowers, the Chair of the event, and Treasure Island Mayor  Larry Lunn were amazed at the generosity of the community and were most pleased with this year’s fundraising efforts.

The Treasure Islettes support both the community and local and national charities through their fundraising. In the last few months they donated a new ventilation system to the Treasure Island Fire Department, a new sound system to the Recreation Department, new signage on the beach, and cash to the proposed dog park. They also supported a number of community charities, including Be a Santa to A Senior, Family Promise, Heaven on Earth for Veterans, St. Petersburg Free Clinic, Hurricane Relief to the Panhandle, and Alpha House.

The Treasure Islettes was chartered in 1955. It was founded by ladies who resided in the beach community of Treasure Island. Being an Islette has always meant having neighborhood pride, and sharing sorority through a spirit of volunteerism.

The mission of the Treasure Islettes is the promotion of civic, social and community assistance, primarily in the City of Treasure Island, but also in the surrounding communities of Pinellas County. The group also supports nationally recognized non-profit organizations.

The club is non-partisan, non-sectarian and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
