The northerners have the cold and snow to get them in the Christmas Spirit, but us Floridians are lucky and get holiday illuminated boat parades. I choose boat parades and decorated palm trees with 80º sunny skies. One of my favorite parades is the Madeira Beach “Festival of Lights” boat parade. For many years most of the residents and nearby neighbors gathered at home parties, John’s Pass and of course any open area on the water including the bridges to view the parade. These options are still available but this year a new one has been added. Our newly renovated City Centre is offering a unique viewing area complete with food, drinks, Santa, Live Music and fireworks to finish the evening.
R.O.C. Park (which is the beautiful brick walking path around the recreation fields with a unique sitting and reflecting areas) is having a benefit concert and fireworks. We encourage everyone to bring their friends and family and come down to view the parade at the park.
There will be plenty of space and the parade will go by the entire walking path. This location is at the end of the parade and the boats should arrive around 9:30/10pm. It will have the best open view of all the boats and of course right after they will light up the sky with fireworks!
