Madeira Beach will break ground on a new pirate themed playground next Monday, November 16th at 9:00 a.m. The City received a $50,000 grant from the Florida Recreation Department Assistance Program for the project.

“The groundbreaking of this playground is one of the final pieces to this magnificent City Centre Complex. The FRDAP grant enables us to build an incredible structure that will service the City of Madeira Beach residents and visitors for generations to come.” –Doug Andrews, Director of Parks and Recreation

Madeira Beach opened a new waterfront recreation center at 200 Rex Place in February of this year. Services include daily after care, full day camp on Pinellas County school days off, holiday break camps including summer.

“The addition of a playground to our facilities will help us continue to fulfil our committed to recreation for all ages.” – Shane Crawford, City Manager

The project is being constructed by KorKat Inc. and is expected to take eight weeks to complete. The City recreation program anticipates and opening mid-January.

“The playground is a much needed and appreciated addition to our childcare program, our kids and counselors are really looking forward to it.” – Jay Hatch, Athletics Coordinator

Ground breaking will be hosted by City of Madeira Beach and supported by Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce and Treasure Island Madeira Beach Chamber.

The City of Madeira Beach Parks and Recreation strives to enrich the lives of residents and visitors with welcoming parks and recreation facilities offering affordable, diverse recreation and activities for people of all ages to play, learn, build community and be good stewards of our environment.
