Treasure Islettes award $12,000 in scholarships to Pinellas County Students

The Treasure Islettes, the women’s club of Treasure Island, have announced four recipients who will each receive a $3,000 scholarship for the 2017-018 school year. They are; Taylor Anthony attending University of South Florida; Jennifer Dawson attending Louisiana State University; Katherine Gomez attending University of Central Florida; and Alex Tallman attending St. Petersburg College.

The Islettes began the scholarship program more than 47 years ago and have helped local students obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees. Many of these students have gone on to succeed in fields such as law, education, ecology, environmental science, business management, athletics, and law enforcement. Funding for the scholarship program comes through weekly Thursday night Bingo games.

Thursday night Bingo. Please join the Treasure Islettes on Thursday evenings for the games.

Early bird games begin at 6:45 pm and regular games at 7:45 pm.

Great snack bar, free coffee, and cash prizes.

The games are held at the Treasure Island Community Center Park, 154 – 106th Avenue (behind Walgreens).
