Prestigious Pineapple Award

The Pineapple Award recognizes the creation and/or implementation of a program, event or legacy that greatly affects the Tampa Bay tourism community.

“We are so proud to recognize Missy with our Pineapple Award,” noted WIT president Theresa Crane, of Duke Energy. “Her involvement with tourism goes back many years, to her work with Virgin Atlantic airlines. She helped establish the International Museum to downtown St. Petersburg. Missy also led the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber and was the director of the local chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association before accepting the post of president of the Treasure Island and Madeira Beach Chamber.

Praise for Hahn

“Significantly, Missy served as our own chapter president during the recession of 2008, when many chapters folded around the world. She held our local chapter together during a very trying time, and in the years since we have come back even stronger. Missy remains a staunch advocate for our tourism industry and the legacy she created for us is so obviously deserving of this prestigious award.”

“Missy is a tremendous asset not only to our Chamber and the local tourism industry, but also to our community as a whole,” added Joe Dise, Chairman of the Board of the Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber for 2018. “She is tireless in her efforts to raise awareness of our local businesses that support, and are supported by, tourism, and she continually helps build our connections to our residents and government leaders. We are proud of her accomplishments, and of the recognition of those accomplishments represented by this award.”

Following the presentation, Hahn had this to say: “I am so honored that Women in Tourism chose me as this year’s Pineapple Award recipient. I have seen the challenges and successes of our chapter over the years, and have a deep appreciation for what this award represents.”
