Visit St. Pete/Clearwater provided the following information for us to share with our members and visitors.
Dear Industry Partners
At a press conference held this morning, the Florida Department of Health confirmed it is investigating a local case of Zika in Pinellas County/Tampa Bay area.
However it is unclear where the case was acquired and at this time officials do not believe mosquitoes are actively spreading Zika in Pinellas County (see Tampa Bay Times story here).
As has been the case since the first reported incidence of locally-acquired Zika in the Miami/Dade area last month, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater remains in contact with city, county, state and federal officials and is closely monitoring the situation.
You may have visitors and guests inquiring about travel plans as the situation evolves, so we will be constantly updating information from the Florida Department of Health, CDC, Visit Florida and listing practical advice for industry and visitors alike on our current travel safety information page.
We’ll continue to keep you posted as new information becomes available.
